My uPVC door will not open
If you have the keys and they still turn in the lock, there is a good chance that the multipoint lock will have failed. The multipoint lock is the part that runs the entire length of the opening side. It keeps the door secure and draught-free after you have lifted the handle. I just wanted to let you know that a point to make is if the key does not turn. And I mean not turn one degree, then it will be the barrel that has failed.
We can open your uPVC door and replace all the necessary parts.
This will be at a fraction of the cost of a replacement door. You could argue that a new door is the better route. But do you want to change your door every time something breaks on it? We expect our repairs to last 10–12 years if the door is in good condition and not hanging out of the frame!
I cannot lock my uPVC door
There can be two reasons here. One, it could be the same as above or an alignment issue. It’s a straightforward test for this – open the door and lift the handles. Now, you can turn the key to lock the door, and if you succeed in locking the door, it will be an issue with the door fitting. But if the door still fails to lock, we are back to it being a problem with the multipoint lock. We can swap this over, and the door will work again.
If it is an alignment problem, we can rectify the issue. This could be a hinge problem, and the door will likely need repacking. A door doctor will fix these things.
